Guitar Modes And Scales – How To Use Them

Guitar Modes And ScalesGuitar players sometimes get themselves in a knot about modes. Maybe the name throws them. A simple way of getting aquainted with modes is to think of them as a major or minor scale with a few changes. The Phrygian Mode is the minor scale with a flattened second. The Locrian is a minor scale with flattened second and fifth. The Lydian is a major scale with a sharp fourth. The Mixolydian Mode is a major scale with a flattened seventh.
